December 9, 2015 To Whom It May Concern: I am the Editor of the “Standup Journal” and I have witnessed the continued growth of Paddle to the Core from Las Vegas since their beginning in 2010. Kathy Holesapple is an innovator and an exceptional visionary when it comes to her business. She has brought Standup Paddle to Las Vegas and has been a true champion for her destination. We have watched her grow and develop her programs as well as invigorate the industry with her constant drive for unique ways to continued growth in non-coastal area. Standup Paddle began in the Oceans and coastal cities and was not considered to be a “flat water” sport but Kathy kept proving to us that the market was leading to a flat water revolution and soon we watched as it spread across the country. Paddle to the Core has been very influential in the growth of flat water paddle and it’s because of an innovative and determined business owner who was not going to let SUP pass her by. In fact: Kathy was the first to publish a Standup Paddle Wedding and hosted the 2013 WPA world paddle Championships. She was also one of the earliest Standup Paddle Yoga enthusiasts and has inspired many “Yogi’s” to take it to the board. Kathy was given a two page spread in our Spring 2012 issue featuring one of our photographers and close friends “Glenn Dubock” who chose her destination as his favorite place to paddle, mentioning Kathy specifically as the “reason” why he loved SUP in Las Vegas. We believe in those who have championed our sport and have helped launch it into the “Fastest Growing Sport in the World” and Kathy is definitely one of those Champions. We stand behind her wherever she goes and encourage her to never give up because she is a Standup Paddle Champion taking it to the next level every chance she gets. I love the sport of Stand Up Paddle (SUP) and have since my first day in La Ventana Mexico in early 2009. My life was truly changed by the discovery of this wonderful sport they call "SUP". I was chasing a career in Aviation where I had been training and acquiring time and education to include earning my "A.M.P Certification making me a (rare) Female, Pilot/Mechanic. I did not give it up completely but I changed careers after 5 years and 1500 hours in a King Air 200. I heard the call of an Entrepreneur when I fell in Love with SUP and opened Paddle to the Core on the 4th of July at Lake Las Vegas in 2010. It was a dream come true when the World 'Stood UP' and took notice of a Girl and her SUP Destination inLas Vegas! We watched as people started to stream into our little man made lake to try the new craze of Stand Up Paddle. I was honored when "Glenn Dubock" traveled away from the coast to give us a photo shoot and the greatest introduction to the World of SUP with a two page spread in the Infamous "Stand Up Journal". Wow! What could be greater? Thank You to all who have supported my SUP dreams and never ending aspirations to keep the sport alive and well in Las Vegas.
